About me
Piano, Organ, Accordion, Voice
Todd Troutman lover of music...
Music has given me many joys and adventures over the years.
I began my singing career as a paid chorister for Downtown Presbyterian Church in my hometown of Nashville, Tennessee from 1973-1975 while also singing in the Nashville Symphony Chorus and Nashville Pro Musica.
I studied at the Blair Conservatory of Music from 1974-75 and Peabody College in 1975. I then continued my education at Indiana University in Bloomington until 1978 where I majored in Music Composition and minored in Percussion. Then, from 1979-82, I could be found singing by the Nashville Opera Chorus in Tosca, II Trovatore and Alexander Nevsky. My first symphony was performed in April 1981 with the Nashville Community Orchestra which I founded and conducted from 1980-1982.
My next move took me to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina in 1983 where I played dinner music at the Audubon restaurant at the Hyatt, Inter-Continental and Marriott Hotels. This was also when I began playing for church services, starting as an Organist for the Holy Family Catholic Church.
From South Carolina I moved to Birmingham, Alabama and from 1986-1988 I played accordion and piano for the George Doerner Big Band.
In April of 1991, I made the move to California and became an accompanist for El Camino and Sacramento High Schools until 1999. During the 1990’s, I was also involved with the Sacramento Bach Festivals and the Messiah Sing-alongs at Fremont Presbyterian Church as a Chorister, Organist and Timpanist.
After caring for my father in 2000 and his passing in April 2001, I moved to Half Moon Bay, California in the Bay Area and played piano dinner music at Max’s Opera Cafe in Burlingame, Palo Alto and San Francisco locations. I also played the organ for the Epiphany Episcopal Church in San Carlos from 2004-2006. In 2006 I played piano for “Shopping, the Musical” at the Jean Shelton Theatre in San Francisco’s theatre district.
When the economic depression hit in 2008, I decided to play piano for Carnival Cruises beginning in April 2009 through 2011. First I played as a show band pianist on the Holiday, Fascination and Sensation ships and then as a piano bar artist on the Miracle and Paradise ships.
In March of 2011, I returned to Roseville, California and became a Choral Scholar at All Saints Episcopal Church in Sacramento, California. I play piano and sing in a jazz duo called Lavender Velvet and play piano and accordion for the Dean-o-holics, a Dean Martin/Rat Pack tribute band. And most recently, in 2019, I became the Organist/Pianist at St. John’s Episcopal in Roseville, California.
